About
Liana Nanang Omodele

Multidisciplinary Storyteller & Memory Keeper

Liana Nanang Omodele is a versatile visual artist, writer, and speaker. Inspired by her Black-Bermudian, Iban-Malaysian, Indigenous-South American, Scottish and Portuguese heritage, Liana's work explores resilience and resistance as ancestral memory and what it means to be a neurodivergent woman of colour.

Liana's creative expression is a fusion of art and history that intertwines ancient indigenous narratives with contemporary culture and artistic practices. Delve into her portfolio to view how she blends creativity and heritage into a unique tapestry of storytelling. She works both individually and as one-half of the art collective OYANGO alongside her husband, Ajala Omodele.

Liana is the founder of Unstoried, a multimedia entertainment start-up that tells authentic stories of People of the Global Majority. In partnership with Ajala, Liana leads Unchained on the Rock, a storytelling initiative that chronicles narratives of Black liberation and resistance throughout the Atlantic Basin. Together, they offer talks, workshops, events and consulting that honour their Ancestors and storytelling forebears.
